This premium sticky rice from Golden Phoenix comes from Thailand and is of exceptional quality.

This rice can be used for both sweet and savory dishes.

Its unique properties have nothing to do with the processing, quite the opposite: it is a special type of rice in which the individual rice grains almost completely stick together during cooking due to the high starch content. Uncooked sticky rice is visually characterized by its completely opaque, matte white grains.

Application:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sticky rice
  • water for soaking and steaming

Preparation steps:

  1. Soak rice:

    • Rinse the glutinous rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
    • Soak the rice in cold water for at least 4 hours or overnight. This will soften the rice and ensure a uniform consistency when cooked.
  2. Drain rice:

    • Pour off the soaking water and rinse the rice again briefly.
  3. Steam rice:

    • Steam the sticky rice in a steamer basket or bamboo steamer. You can line the steamer basket with a cloth to prevent the rice from falling through the holes.
    • Place the steamer basket over boiling water and steam the rice for about 20-30 minutes, until it is soft and sticky. You can turn the rice halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  4. Serve:

    • Once the rice is ready, remove it from the steamer and serve hot. Sticky rice is often served with savory dishes or sweet desserts.

Tips :

  • Rice Cooker: Sticky rice can also be cooked in a rice cooker with the right amount of water, but steaming provides the most authentic texture.
  • Usage: Sticky rice goes well with dishes such as mango sticky rice, grilled meat, or as a side dish to curries.
